Science advisors for the To Extremes exhibition include a number of authors of the IPCC Extreme Events report and other experts on climate and disasters. Advisors are meant to answer questions, brainstorm ideas or provide background information for participants in the exhibition. They will lead informal conference calls with interested artists and designers in January 2012. While artists develop their ideas, the advisors have also volunteered to be on call for individual discussions by email or phone. In early January contact info for the advisors will be shared with the artists/designers by email. The advisors cover the exhibition's various scientific themes.
- Apurva Sanghi, economist, World Bank (Poverty) - David Easterling, climate scientist, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Heat, Floods) - Sabrina McCormick, sociologist, assistant professor, George Washington University, Lead author, SREX (Heat) - Miquel Munoz, Boston University (Risk) - Maarten Van Alst, Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Center, Coordinating lead author, SREX (Warning) - Mark Cochrane, South Dakota State University (Fire) -Anthony Oliver-Smith, University of Florida (Migration)
These experts did not contribute to the dossiers on this site, though some looked them over. Invited artists and designers should feel free to contact the exhibition curator if you are looking for particular data/climate science but don't know which advisor to ask.
